These ways are from Marc Ostrofsky in his book,Get Rick Click.I’ve chosen 7 from the 112 ways to optimze your site with search engines and I hope you enjoy them.

1.Unique content that is relevant and different to that an another site gives you a big boost.

2. Be part of the internet “Buzz” and get free links back to your site.Go to Google Groups,Yahoo Answers or better yet,an interactive blog about your area of expertise.Get involved and help people get answers to their questions and put a link to useful information (as well as back to your site).

3. The origin of your inbound links does make a difference;sites with higher page ranks are more reputable.Because it’s also harder to get inbound links from these sites,they influence your importance.links from .edu and .gov sites generally give you a higher ranking than those from sites with other extensions.Quality should significantly outweigh quantity in your inbound linking strategy.

4.Search engines want natural language content.Don’t overstuff your text with Keywords.It won’t work.Search engines look at how many times a term appears in your content.If it is abnormally high,this may count against you.Shoot for 3 to 7 percent for major Keywords,1 to 2 percent for minor.Keyword density of over 10 percent may be suspicious and looks more like “Keyword stuffing” than naturally written text.Search engines can blacklist you for this.

5.Be careful with redirects for www and non-www domains.Decide which you want to use and 301 redirect the other to it.In other words,if domain.com is your preference then domain.com should redirect it.301 redirects are considered “permanent”,and are more search engine friendly.

6.Include keywords in text at the beginning of your pages.Placement counts,though not as much as anchor text,title tag,or headings.The beginning of a document does not necessarily mean the first paragraph–for instance if you use tables,the first paragraph of text might be in the second half of the table.

7.Encourage your visitors to link to you;simply ask them.If they like what they see on your site,your humbly worded request might convince them.
